Avalon Horses is proud to join the ACE FMS vendor network
We invite Ventura County participants to experience the joy of animals through our welcoming beginner horsemanship classes. Operating out of our tranquil "Oasis" in Moorpark, Avalon Horses specializes in introductory, ground-focused education designed specifically for those with little to no equine experience. Participants learn essential, confidence-building skills like safe animal handling, grooming, and fundamental horse behavior in a supportive, low-stress environment. These interactive sessions prioritize safety and sensory connection, making them an excellent choice for Self-Determination Program (SDP) goals focused on personal growth, coordination, and community inclusion. All beginner educational programs are fully compatible with SDP spending plans for straightforward billing and flexible scheduling.
Avalon Horses delivers person-centered, community-based habilitative and therapeutic services designed to increase independence, community integration, and functional life skills for individuals with developmental disabilities. Operating in strict alignment with Title 17 regulations and the CMS Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule, our programs utilize evidence-based animal-assisted interventions and experiential learning to fulfill the measurable objectives outlined in each consumer’s Individual Program Plan (IPP). We offer specialized service delivery under four distinct classifications: Specialized Therapeutic Services (Service Code 114) to enhance sensory-motor integration and physical stamina; a Behavior Management Program (Service Code 615) to develop positive coping mechanisms, impulse control, and adaptive social-communication skills; a Community Integration Program (Service Code 055) to foster community presence, self-advocacy, and independent living skills; and a Creative Arts Program (Service Code 094) utilizing our inclusive ranch setting to stimulate functional self-expression and cognitive engagement. Administered within the least-restrictive environment (LRE) by qualified, highly trained personnel, our services focus on individual choice, privacy, and rigorous data-driven tracking of behavioral and habilitative outcomes to ensure optimal consumer advancement and county compliance.

Farm school programs offer immense value by bridging the gap between textbook concepts and real-world application, transforming the outdoors into a living laboratory for science, responsibility, and emotional growth. By trading traditional desks for a vibrant, hands-on farm environment, students engage directly with animals and nature, turning physical education into meaningful life experiences. This interactive approach helps kids build vital skills:
